Los Mirlos are the creators of the Amazonian cumbia, one of the many manifestations of the Peruvian cumbia. It is a group with a long history, originally from the city of Moyobamba, in the department of San Martín, whose jungle origins earned them the nickname "Los Charapas de Oro". Its beginnings date back to 1968 when they were called Los Saetas.
